Dr. David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc

Dr. David Fajgenbaum, MD, MBA, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Translational Medicine & Human Genetics at UPenn, Associate Director of Patient Impact for the Penn Orphan Disease Center, and co-Founder & Executive Director of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network (www.CDCN.org). Dr. Fajgenbaum is also battling idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease as a patient. His research has flipped the model of Castleman disease pathogenesis on its head, and he identified the treatment regimen that he is currently on himself. In parallel to driving forward research for Castleman disease, Dr. Fajgenbaum is also interested in applying the "Collaborative Network" approach he has spearheaded for Castleman disease to help accelerate research for other rare diseases.

For his work, he was named to the 2015 Forbes 30 Under 30 Healthcare List and recognized as 2015 RARE Champion of Hope: Science Award winner by Global Genes. Prior to founding the CDCN, Dr. Fajgenbaum co-founded the AMF Support Network for grieving college students, received a BS from Georgetown University, Master’s in Public Health from Oxford University as the Allbritton Scholar, MD from the University of Pennsylvania as a Gamble 21st Century Scholar, and MBA from the Wharton School as the Kissick Scholar and Mandel Fellow.
